Chief Constable

Mrs Pinkney is the most senior police officer in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. She is responsible for ensuring that policing services meet the public need, and in doing so delivers the requirements outlined in the local Police and Crime Plan and National Policing vision. Mrs Pinkney is also the national policing lead for Children and Young People.

Police and Crime Commissioner

Mr Lane was elected as Police and Crime Commissioner in May 2016. He is not a police officer and has no operational role but is accountable to the public for the performance of Hampshire Constabulary, providing a vital link between communities and their police force. Mr Lane sets the strategy for policing and crime and disorder reduction as outlined in his Police and Crime Plan.

Deputy Chief Constable

Accountable to the chief constable, DCC Glen is responsible for force performance, ethical standards and oversees Professional Standards, force risk, inspection, learning and force development. She is responsible for holding Assistant Chief Constables (ACCs) and Assistant Chief Officers (ACOs) to account for the operational delivery across the force, as well as planning, resourcing and delivering transformational change within the force’s allocated budget. Mrs Glen holds the national portfolio for charging standards and out of court disposals.

Assistant Chief Constable (Operations)

Strategic lead for all of our call centres and the Joint Operations Unit across Hampshire and Thames Valley. This includes all roads policing, armed response and public order teams, as well as emergency and non-emergency contact with the public. Mr Hardcastle is also the national lead for response policing.

Assistant Chief Constable (Local Policing)

Strategic lead for neighbourhood policing, public protection (safeguarding vulnerable people), and emergency response teams. Responsible for building and maintaining relationships at executive level with partner agencies, including local authorities and other emergency services.

Temporary Assistant Chief Constable (Crime, Criminal Justice and Intelligence)

Strategic lead across all investigations teams, custody, the wider criminal justice system and intelligence. Responsible for building and maintaining relationships regional and national crime assets; criminal justice partners including probation, prisons, the Crown Prosecution Service, courts and youth offending.

Special Constabulary Chief Officer

Leader of the Special Constabulary. Responsible for setting force strategy, policy development and directing the Special Constabulary Executive Team. Represents the force as the South East regional lead nationally and is the National Police Chiefs’ Council lead for cyber Special constables and cyber volunteers.

Chief Information Officer

Responsible for IT and Information Management strategies across Hampshire and Thames Valley, increasingly focused on transforming the force’s technology (e.g. new contact management systems) and developing regional and national IT solutions and appropriate data strategies and governance to enable a more joined up approach between forces and partners.

Director of Communications

Responsible for all internal and external communications, including digital engagement with the public. A strategic adviser to the Chief Officer Group on matters relating to public trust and confidence, along with employee, stakeholder and media communications.

Head of Human Resources and Workforce Development

The senior HR lead across the Hampshire Shared Services partnership (police, fire, council). Responsible for ensuring that the force has the right systems, processes and policies to recruit, retain and develop its people. Also oversees the force wellbeing strategy and transactional services, such as pay.

Richard Croucher

Chief Finance Officer, Chief Officer for Transport (Fleet) and Procurement

Responsible for setting and maintaining the budget for police and fire in Hampshire. Acts as a strategic adviser to the Chief Officer Group on all financial matters, including planning for capital investment in new buildings and transformational change.
