Police are appealing for information following an unprovoked assault in Andover town centre.

The incident occurred at around 1am on Sunday, August 19 outside of a takeaway in Bridge Street.

A group of friends had been out in Andover for the evening and had stopped at the takeaway on their way home. They were waiting outside of the takeaway for their food when they were approached and assaulted by a group of men in the street.

A 19-year-old woman was punched to the face and a 20-year-old man and 21-year-old man were punched and kicked to the head and body. The 20-year-old lost consciousness as a result of the assault and was taken by ambulance to Royal Hampshire County Hospital for treatment.

The first suspect is described as:

  • Olive skinned man
  • About 18-years-old
  • Approximately 5ft 7 tall
  • Wearing a white short sleeved t-shirt with a black diamonds pattern on the front, light coloured trousers which were possibly chinos and a flat cap that had green on it. This was worn on the side of his head.

The second suspect is described as:

  • Olive skinned boy
  • Approximately 15-years-old
  • About 5ft 2 tall
  • Medium build
  • Dark hair
  • Large nose that was spread out.
  • Wearing a long sleeved dark blue shirt with white buttons and light coloured chinos.

The third suspect is described as:

  • White boy
  • About 15-years-old
  • Approximately 5ft 7 tall
  • Blond or brown shaven hair
  • Wearing a red zip up hooded top with a white zip and a white drawstring in a bow.

Two other suspects are described as a man in a red top and a man in a white top.

PC Tamsin Hoare from Andover CID said: "This attack was unprovoked and aggressive in nature. A group of friends, who had been out in the town celebrating, had their evening ended with this unnecessary violence.

"The assault took place close to a takeaway and a taxi rank which would both have been well used at this time of night.

"I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the assault, or who has any information about it, and may be able to assist the police with our enquiries to identify those responsible."
