The 23-year-old victim had been sat on a bench on the High Street at around 11.20pm on Sunday, January 29, when she was approached and assaulted by a man she did not know.

He has been described as white, aged in his 20s, and wearing a jacket and woolly bobble hat.

The man was also seen riding a bicycle and smoking a cigarette in the area near this time.

Officers have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

PC Helen Carthew said: “Did you see this incident take place, or see two people of this description on a bench or in the area at this time?

“We are also keen to identify the person shown in the CCTV image as he may have information to assist our enquiries.

“The image is dark, but we hope that somebody may recognise the distinctive clothing this person is wearing.

“If you recognise this person, or believe this to be you, then please call police immediately.

“I would also like to advise members of the public to stick with a group of friends when out late at night, and to report any suspicious behaviour to police.”
