Police are appealing for information following a distraction burglary in Alton.
At around 9pm on Saturday, March 2 two men knocked at the door of an address on Greenfields Avenue. The men told the victim, who is aged in her 90s, that they thought she had been burgled. They came in to the house, acting concerned, and asked the victim to check her money to see if any had been stolen.
The woman told the men to wait outside while she went to check her money. She returned and told the men she had her money and nothing had been stolen. The men then started to look around the address.
The men then made an excuse about having to meet someone, and left the house.
After the men had left, the victim noticed that around £50 cash and a number of items of jewellery were missing.
The men police want to speak to are described as white, aged about 20, and wearing dark clothing.
PC Paula Jackson, said: "This was a despicable crime where two men have distracted an elderly lady in her own home while they stole cash and jewellery from her.
"Did you see anyone matching the descriptions in the area at the time of the incident? Have you had any similar callers at your address? I would urge anyone with any information to come forward and speak to us in confidence."
