Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was robbed as he walked through Rosemary Lane in Blackwater.

The 21-year-old was approached by two unknown men shortly before midnight on Saturday, January 12, one of whom demanded the victim hand over his mobile phone.

The victim tried to run away but was grabbed and fell to the ground. He was then punched in the back of the head. One of the men again demanded he hand over the phone, money and bank card, and through fear, the victim handed over his iPhone 4S.

Both men are described as white, aged about 24, of an athletic build and about 5ft 7ins tall. The man who assaulted the victim had mousy brown hair and was wearing a white hooded-top and grey tracksuit bottoms.

The other man, who did not say or do anything, was wearing a black jacket and dark-blue jeans.

Fortunately the victim didn't sustain any lasting injuries.

PC Louise Cadby said: "Were you in the area at the time of this incident? Did you notice anything suspicious or do you recognise the descriptions of the offenders?

"I would also like to remind people to keep any valuable items out of sight when walking late at night."
