Police are appealing for information after a large quantity of lead was stolen from a church roof in Nether Wallop, Stockbridge.

The incident took place at some time between 8.30pm on Friday, February 8 and 8.30am on Saturday, February 9.  The offenders stole approximately two tonnes of lead, valued at £2500, from the roof of St Andrews Church, Church Road, Nether Wallop.

PC Simon Beecroft, said: "The offenders drove a vehicle along the path up to the front of the church and must have spent sometime removing the lead.  Were you in the area? Did you see anyone acting suspiciousy around the church or have you seen anyone with a large amount of lead either on a lorry or in a van?  I would urge anyone with information to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
