Police in Basingstoke are appealing for witnesses and information after two men were assaulted in South Ham.

At about 8.20pm on September 15, an 18-year-old man and 39-year-old man were walking out of an alleyway between Dartmouth Walk and Paddock Road, opposite Westside Community Centre, when they were attacked by a group of people.

It is believed there may have been up to six people in the group. One of the attackers is described as a white man, aged in his 20s, about 6ft tall, of a medium build and had short ginger-blond hair.

The 39-year-old man sustained a broken collar bone and the 18-year-old sustained facial injuries. Both were treated at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital.

PC Aaron Bendall said: "We believe this incident may have occurred following a misunderstanding between two groups of people.

"Were you in the area at the time? Did you see a group of people in the South Ham area acting suspiciously?
