Police are appealing for information and advising residents following a spate of burglaries in South Wonston, Winchester.

At some time between July 24 and September 9, the offender/s forced entry to an address on Wrights Way.  Once inside they searched the property and a number of items were stolen, including PS3 games, watches, iPods, a Samsung laptop and an Acer laptop.

At some time between September 1 and September 10 a burglary occurred at an address in Orchards Close.  The victim returned from holiday to find that the back door of his home had been forced open.  Once inside, the offender/s searched the property and took an antique item.

The third incident took place at an address in Oaklands, at some time between September 6 and September 9.  The victim returned from a break away to find the offender/s had forced entry to his front door porch.  They did not gain entry to the main part of the house and nothing was stolen.

PC Emma Purser, said: "Each of these burglaries has occurred whilst the occupants were on holiday or away for short periods of time.

"If you are going to be away from your property, even if it's just for a couple of days, try to make your home look occupied - get a trusted friend or neighbour to collect your post and draw your curtains and use timer switches to turn the lights on in the evening. Lock tools, ladders, etc, away so that they cannot be used to gain entry to your home.  These simple measures make your house look lived in and could help you keep your property safe while you are away.

"I would appeal to anyone who has information about any of these burglaries to come forward and speak to us.  I would also urge residents of South Wonston to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police immediately."
