Detectives in Basingstoke are appealing for witnesses and information after a vulnerable man was robbed.

The victim, who is aged 54 and from Basingstoke, was walking in Lower Church Street at about 11am on Sunday, October 14, when he was approached by an unknown man.

The man, who is described as white and aged in his early 20s, then threatened him and demanded he hand over some money.

The man had short brown hair and was wearing tracksuit bottoms with a light blue stripe down the leg and a navy t-shirt with short sleeves.

The victim handed over a small amount of change.

Detective Constable Paul Smith said: "Fortunately the victim wasn't injured, but he was extremely shaken by the incident.

"If you were in the area at the time and saw this happen, you may have information which could assist this investigation."
