Detectives in Basingstoke are appealing for information and witnesses after a 14-year-old boy was robbed as he walked home from school.

The boy was walking through an alleyway on Queen Mary Avenue opposite Norden Close, between 3.30pm and 3.50pm on Thursday, October 18, when he was confronted by three unknown boys.

One of them demanded he hand over his mobile phone and behaved in a threatening manner. The boy handed over some loose change and all three boys walked away towards Norden Close.

All boys are described as white and of a slim build. The first boy was wearing a zip-up brown jumper, a red patterned shirt and navy blue tracksuit bottoms and was about 5ft 7ins and aged about 15.

The second boy was wearing a light blue waterproof jacket and dark jeans and thought to be about 14 years old and 5ft 4ins tall.

The third boy was wearing a dark jumper or jacket, thought to be aged about 16 and 5ft 7ins tall.

Detective Constable Simon Quickfall said: "Due to the time of day, there is likely to have been lots of people in the area who may have seen something.

"Did you see anyone matching the descriptions? Do you know anything about this incident?"

Officers have been in contact with local schools to offer reassurance to pupils and teams will be out in the area this afternoon.
