Police are appealing for information after a nurse was assaulted while trying to help a man in Winchester.

Police are appealing for information after a nurse was assaulted while trying to help a man in Winchester.

The incident occurred at around 6.40pm on Sunday, November 11 near to the County Arms public house in Romsey Road.

The victim, a 23-year-old woman, drove past a group of men fighting in the street and noticed a man lying in the road.

She thought he was injured and stopped her car to help. She dragged him from the road to prevent him being hit by any vehicles.

As she got up from checking he was ok she was punched in the face by a different man causing bruising.

The suspect is described as:

  • A white man
  • In his late 40s
  • About 5ft 9 tall
  • Stocky build
  • Bald head
  • Wearing a grey suit.

 PC Glen Willis-Long from Winchester police station said: "This was a totally unprovoked assault on a member of the public who had stopped to see if a man needed medical help.

"The location for the incident is a busy road and it is likely that other people witnessed this incident or the fight beforehand and may have useful information."
