Detectives in Basingstoke are appealing for witnesses after a 15-year-old boy was the victim of an attempted robbery in an underpass near Oakridge Road.

At about 11pm on Thursday, June 7, the teenager was walking through the underpass under Oakridge Road which leads into Popley, when a man pushed him, demanded money and cut his face.

The victim managed to run off but sustained a cut down one side of his face which required 32 stitches.

The offender is described as a white man aged about 18, was about 6ft 1ins tall and of a skinny build with short dark hair. He was wearing a grey Nike hooded-top with the hood up and had some black material covering his face from the nose down. He was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms with a black stripe down the side and Nike trainers with neon orange laces.

Detective Constable Claire Chandler said: "The description of the suspect is quite distinctive. Did you see anyone matching the description in the area? Do you know anything about this incident?"
