Police are appealing for witnesses after a 14-year-old girl was assaulted in Andover.

The incident occurred at around 5pm on Monday, August 27 in Augusta Way West.

The victim was walking on her own when she was approached by a group of young people near to the junction with Icknield Way.

Two of the girls in the group assaulted her and she suffered various grazes and bruises.

PC Patrick Coveney from Andover police station said: "I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident.

"In particular, I would like to speak to a man who walked past with a child at the time of the assault and tried to help the victim."
