Police appeal for witnesses after incident in Yateley

Police in Yateley are appealing for witnesses after a suspicious incident in the town.

At about 8pm on Friday, April 29 – the day of the Royal Wedding – a 23-year-old woman was walking along Vigo Lane when she was approached by a man on a bicycle.

The man attempted to speak to her and when she ignored him he stopped in front of her and blocked her path. As the woman tried to walk away the man grabbed her and caused a minor injury.

The man is described as having a Mediterranean appearance and thought to be aged between 20 and 30. He was slim, of average height and had dark wavy hair. He was wearing dark-coloured tracksuit bottoms and a dark-coloured jumper. The bike he was riding is described as black and old and scruffy looking.

PC Jonathan Richards said: “I urge anyone who witnessed the incident, in particular a taxi driver and a dog walker seen by the victim, to contact me as they may have information that will assist this investigation.”
