Police appeal for witnesses after house and pub burgled in Wickham

Police are appealing for witnesses after two burglaries in Wickham on the same afternoon.

At around 4pm on Thursday, September 1, a woman found a suspicious man in her house in The Square. He said he was looking for his mother at a nearby pub and then left, heading towards The Kings Head pub.

Shortly after this incident, another burglary took place at pub, also in The Square.   Nothing was taken from the house, but two mobile phones were stolen from the pub.

The man who was seen in the house is described as aged in his late teens, about 5ft 6ins tall and of a medium to stocky build. He had dark-coloured hair and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing a black short-sleeve top and shellsuit type trousers with a stripe down the side.

PC Emma Purser said: “If you saw anyone matching this description in this area of Wickham on Thursday afternoon, please contact me.”
