Operation Wrapper – Man seriously injured in West Meon crash
Police are appealing for witnesses to a crash on the A272 near West Meon which left a man seriously injured.
The incident occurred at about 3.30pm on Friday, December 31, and involved a blue Jaguar XJS car travelling east and a white Volvo 850, which was travelling west along the A272.
The driver of the Jaguar, a 61-year-old man from Fareham, lost control of the car, crossed onto the opposite carriageway and collided head-on with the Volvo.
The driver of the Volvo, a 61-year-old man from Newbury, sustained serious injuries and remains in a serious condition at Southampton General Hospital.
The driver of the Jaguar sustained some internal injuries and was treated at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester. He has since been released from hospital.
A 23-year-old man who was a passenger in the Jaguar was not injured.
PC David Blake from Fratton Roads Policing Unit, said: "We believe that there are some key witnesses, who were not spoken to at the time of the incident, who may be able to provide vital information for this investigation.”

Notes to editors – A 61-year-old man from Fareham was arrested on suspicion of driving without due care and attention. He was released on bail until April 11 pending further investigation.
