Appeal for witnesses to incident in Waterlooville

Officers from the Roads Policing Unit are appealing for witnesses after a teenage girl was injured by a passing vehicle while she was waiting to cross the road in Waterlooville.

The 15-year-old was waiting to cross Tempest Avenue to get to the community centre at about 8.40am on Friday, April 1, when it is believed she was struck by a passing skip lorry or a van of some description.

The girl sustained injuries to her face and was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth for treatment. She has since been discharged.

The driver of the vehicle did not stop and officers believe he or she may not have realised there had been an incident.

PC Neville Johnson, of Fratton Roads Policing Unit, said: “We would like to speak to the driver of the lorry so we can piece together exactly what happened. We are also keen to speak to the parents of a young boy who may have witnessed the incident and not yet spoken to the police.”

Can you help?
