Police are appealing for information after a series of incidents in Basingstoke which culminated in a man being assaulted.

Between 7pm and 8pm on Thursday, July 28, a woman noticed two men trying to steal her moped in Paddock Road.

The woman shouted at the men and they made off. The offenders were chased by two other men and were subsequently assaulted by them.

The offenders returned to the scene a little while later and attacked one of the men who had earlier chased them off, with a blade – possibly a home-made knife. The man sustained cuts and bruising to his arm.

PC Chris Pike said: “This series of incidents ended up with a man sustaining a nasty injury.

“I would like to hear from anyone who saw the men being chased or who saw either of the altercations taking place.”
