Detectives in Aldershot have released an e-fit picture of a man they want to speak to in connection with a suspicious incident in Reading Road, Blackwater in the early hours of Tuesday, February 22.

A 16-year-old girl was walking home alone at 1.20am after spending the evening with friends when she became aware of a large white van driving slowly alongside her.

The male driver of the van then shouted at the girl to get in, before opening the passenger door and repeating the demand. The driver then reversed blocking her path.

The victim shouted to friends walking nearby and the van drove away. The vehicle is described as a clean, new-looking white van, similar in size to a Mercedes sprinter.

The male driver was white with short dark hair, broad shoulders and of a stocky build but not fat. He is thought to be aged in his 30s and was wearing a dark-coloured jacket.

Detective Constable Andy Panter of Aldershot CID, said: “I would like to reassure residents in the area that this type of incident is incredibly rare. “My advice to the public would be not to panic, but to be vigilant and avoid walking alone in dimly or unlit areas after dark.”
