People are being encouraged to be vigilant after a teenage girl was followed by a suspicious man in Alton.

Between 2pm and 2.30pm on Wednesday, July 27, the 15-year-old was walking along Anstey Road, to Paper Mill Lane and the car park at Alton train station, when a man followed her.

He didn’t speak to her but she felt distressed by the incident. A member of the public saw the girl was distressed and came to her aid and walked her home.

The man is described as white, aged about 30, about 5ft 4ins tall and of a large build. He was wearing black trousers and a grey t-shirt and was carrying a hi-visibility jacket at the time.

PC Peter Kelly said: “I would like to hear from anyone who saw someone matching this description.

“I would also like to hear from the woman who approached the girl at Alton train station car park and walker her home, as she may be able to assist with the investigation.”
