Detectives appeal for witnesses after incident in Southampton

Detectives in Southampton are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted.

Between 9.30pm and 10.20pm on Friday, June 24, a man was assaulted by a group of men in Monks Way, Southampton.

The victim, an Asian man aged 28, was in a black Renault Megane car with several other men when he was initially assaulted.

It is believed this spilled out onto the street in Monks Way and the group of men tried to force the man into the boot of the car.

Fortunately the man managed to escape and police were subsequently contacted.

The victim sustained minor injuries to his head and stomach.

The car was later found abandoned in Walnut Avenue. Detective Constable Georgina Fitchet said: “This happened in a residential area so someone may have seen this car or a group of men fighting in the street.

“I would like to hear from anyone who saw this vehicle or anything suspicious going on in Monks Way.”
