Man charged in connection with Copnor attempted robbery
Detectives in Portsmouth have charged a man in connection with an attempted robbery at a shop in Copnor on Tuesday, December 21.
Mark Ropner, of Francis Avenue, Southsea, has been charged with attempted robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.
The 35-year-old was due to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court this morning.
This relates to an incident which happened at around 7.05pm on Tuesday, where a man attempted to rob the store manager at the Mini Market in Copnor Road and threatened him with a knife.
A struggle ensued, during which the manager sustained minor injuries.
A member of the public, who was passing the shop at the time of the incident, intervened and assisted in detaining the suspect.
