Operation Columbian: search after property found
Police teams are conducting a search of an area of Otterbourne today (Tuesday, January 11) after a piece of property was found which may be of significant importance to the investigation into the murder of Georgina Edmonds.
From 9am today, which is, co-incidentally, the third anniversary of Mrs Edmonds’ death, specialist search officers will be conducting a search of the area around Oakwood Copse.
This search has been co-ordinated after an item was found by a member of the public and handed in to police. The item is believed to be of significant importance to the inquiry, and has been sent away for forensic testing.
Detective Inspector Guy Robyns, part of the Operation Columbian inquiry team, said: “For operational reasons, we are unable to release further details about the item we had handed in at this time, as we believe it could prove to be a vital part of the ongoing investigation.
“There were several items stolen from Mrs Edmonds’ home that include her black leather Radley handbag, a silver credit card holder and a brightly coloured key fob – red, gold and green in colour.
“We continue to search for the missing items today, and would like to appeal to anybody who regularly uses that area who may have picked up any of the items as described above or may have seen any of them to contact us as soon as possible.”
Pictures of the missing items are available on this website by clicking here.
