Operation Squire – Police release name of man who died in Old Basing crash

Police have released the name of a man who died following a crash on the A30 in Old Basing on Friday, March 11.

Neil Alexander Colquhoun, from Hook, died following a collision between the Vauxhall Vectra car he was driving and a Volvo, which was being driven by an 89-year-old man from Andover.

The Vectra was overtaking a BMW car on the eastbound carriageway of the A30 at Old Basing.

During this manoeuvre, a Volvo, which was travelling the wrong way along the dual carriageway, was in collision with the Vectra.

The Vectra caught fire and the Mr Colquhoun, aged 28, died at the scene.

The driver of the Volvo and his passenger – an 89-year-old woman – both sustained serious injuries and remain in hospital receiving treatment.

The driver of the BMW was not injured.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information to contact PC Martin Lacy or Sergeant Rob Heard at the Road Death Investigation Team in Eastleigh, on 101, quoting Operation Squire.
