Operation Tricot – Update: Man released on bail following serious crash on the Isle of Wight
A man arrested in connection with a serious hit and run incident on the Isle of Wight has been released on bail.
Officers investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, which happened just before 12.30am on Sunday, November 14, arrested a 28-year-old man after he handed himself in at Newport Police Station yesterday (Monday, November 15).
A 41-year-old man was knocked unconscious by a car when it hit him in Trafalgar Road. The vehicle did not stop.
He had been at a party nearby when he stepped outside for a short while and was knocked down by the car.
The man, from Newport, suffered serious head and chest injuries and factures to his legs and remains in Southampton General Hospital.
A car, which is believed to have been involved in the crash, has also been recovered.
Officers continue to appeal for anyone who saw what happened or saw any vehicles in the area at the time of the incident to come forward.
