Officers investigating the theft of lead from the roof of a Basingstoke school have released an e-fit image of a man they would like to speak to.

Some time between 4.30pm on Wednesday, August 3 and 9.40am on Thursday, August 4, offender(s) have entered the grounds of Bishop Challoner Catholic Secondary School, and stolen lead flashing from the roof.

Staff at the school found piles of lead hidden under a bush and when they attempted to move it, two men approached them and said it was theirs. When the staff said they were going to call the police, the men left the scene.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who recognises the man in the e-fit image or another man who is described as white, aged between 16 and 20, under 5ft 10ins tall and over a medium build. He had short dark-coloured hair and was wearing a dark-coloured hooded top.

PC Adam Leech said: “I would like to hear from anyone who recognises the man in the e-fit image or the description of the second suspect.

“Equally, I would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious at the school overnight on Wednesday.”
