Police appeal for witnesses after jewellery stolen during Basingstoke burglary

Police are appealing for witnesses after a daytime burglary in Basingstoke where a large amount of jewellery was stolen.

Some time between 9.30am and 5.10pm on Monday, September 5, offender(s) gained entry by climbing up a drainpipe and prising open a bathroom window of a house in Old Worting Road.

The offender(s) stole a jewellery box which contained all the victim’s jewellery collected over a 35-year period, some also belonging to her husband.

In addition to the jewellery, two laptops, and Ipod touch and a camera were also taken.

PC Jon Hayes said: “This was unusual in that it was a daytime burglary where the offenders have scaled a drainpipe to enter the house and take valuable and items of sentimental value. “If you saw anything suspicious on Monday in the Old Worting Road area, please contact me.”
