Operation Percale: Police name man who died in fatal collision near Petersfield

We are now in a position to name the 48-year-old year old man who died when his motorbike was in collision with a Land Rover car at Buriton near Petersfield on Saturday afternoon (October 30).

He is Gary Greaves, of Arundel, West Sussex. Mr Greaves was a married man with a grown up daughter. He worked in the construction industry.

Mr Greaves died when his motorcycle was in collision with a Land Rover on an area of private farm land at around 1.45pm on Saturday.

A 62-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A post mortem examination on Mr Greaves will be conducted today (Monday, November 1) at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Winchester.

Officers continue to work to establish exactly what happened in this incident. The investigation is called Operation Percale.
