Detectives release CCTV image after elderly man threatened in Oakridge

Detectives in Basingstoke are appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery in which a 70-year-old man was threatened.  

Shortly after 1pm on Saturday, June 11, the victim was approached by a man in Coleman Close, Oakridge.

The man then demanded the victim hand over his wallet and threatened him with a knife. The victim challenged the man and he ran off towards Norn Hill.

Fortunately the victim was not injured and nothing was stolen.  

The man is described as –

White

Aged in his 20s

5ft 10ins tall

Of medium build

Had short dark brown hair and sideburns which came down to his earlobes  

He was wearing a blue tracksuit top and bottoms and the top had the word ‘Pullman’ printed on it in white lettering. He was also wearing white trainers.  

Detective Constable Louise Trigg said: “This was a frightening incident for the victim and may have been seen by passers by as it happened in the middle of the day.  

“I am appealing for anyone who recognises the person in the e-fit image or by the description given, to contact me as soon as possible.”
