Police appeal for information to trace valuable silver items stolen from a church in Heckfield
Officers in Hook are appealing for information after several valuable silver items were stolen from St Michael’s Church in Heckfield.
Some time between 6pm on Wednesday, May 4, and about 8pm on Monday, May 9, offenders(s) broke into the church in Vicarage Lane.
A safe in the vestry was forced open and a number of valuable and irreplaceable items were stolen.
These included – 
• a silver chalice
• a silver patten
• a silver ciborium
• a home communion set comprising a small silver chalice, a silver pyx and a silver topped flask
PC Mark Hoban said: “These items are estimated to be worth in excess of £10,000and date back to the 15th and 16th century. They are also extremely valuable in non-financial terms to the church and the congregation.
“I would like to hear from anyone who has seen these items for sale or saw anything suspicious at the church.”
