Police release CCTV following bike theft in Overton

Police are appealing for witnesses after a mountain bike was stolen from outside the Co Op shop in Overton.

At about 4.30pm on Thursday, September 1, two men were seen entering the Co Op in Winchester Street. When they left, they were seen taking a black and white Giant mountain bike which was left outside the shop by a 13-year-old boy.

The bike is thought to be worth about £250 and had a large mudguard on the back and a blue and green light on the front.

The first man is described as white, aged between 30 and 40, of a medium build and was bald. He was wearing a sleeveless jacket which was open to show a bare chest. The second man is described as white, aged between 25 and 30, with short dark hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt and was seen pushing a golf trolley.

PC Richard Baldwin said: “It is believed these men got off a bus which came from Basingstoke before going to the Co Op.

“They were very distinctive in appearance and may have attracted the attention of local residents.”
