Police appeal for witnesses after attempted theft in Alton

Police are appealing for witnesses after a suspicious incident in Alton.

At about 1.45am on Monday, May 2, the residents of a house in Bailey Green in Privett, Alton, returned home to find two young men trying to steal their garden furniture.

The men were in the garden of the property trying to dismantle the furniture when they were disturbed.

They then fled to a small white van and made off empty handed.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area in the early hours of Monday, who may have seen two young men in a white van.

PC John Friskey said: “This is a rare occurrence in this area but I would remind people to be vigilant and also to make sure their property is secure at all times.”
