Police appeal for witnesses after attempted burglary in Basingstoke

Police are appealing for information after a man was disturbed during what is believed to have been an attempted burglary in Basingstoke.

At about 3am on Tuesday, May 25, a man entered an unlocked porch area of a house in Loggon Road, Basingstoke, and called out “is there anyone in?”.

The householders replied and went to investigate and found the door into the house from the porch slightly open.

The man, who is described as in excess of 6ft 2ins tall and was wearing a large coat at the time, then ran off, possibly with another man.

PC Daniel Coppin said: “This appears to have been an opportunist incident and fortunately the quick reactions of the householders prevented any items being stolen.

“I would like to remind people to ensure doors and windows are secure even if they are at home.”

Can you help?
