Police appeal for witnesses after woman assaulted in Aldershot town centre

Police in Aldershot are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted as she walked home from a night out.

At about 1.15am on Friday, June 24, the victim – a 23-year-old woman from Aldershot – was walking along Victoria Road.

She was approached by an unknown man who asked her for a kiss. She declined and then man then punched her in the face before running off. She sustained a deep cut above her eye which required stitches.

The man is described as white, aged in his early to mid 20s and of a slim build. He was about 5ft 6ins tall and had short black hair. He was wearing a dark-coloured long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up, blue jeans, and black smart shoes.

PC Luke Hyder said: “This was a nasty assault and it happened when the town centre was still very busy with people leaving pubs.

“I am appealing for anyone who saw the incident or the man involved to contact me as soon as possible.”
