Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a 17-year-old was assaulted whilst walking down St Marys Road in Fratton, Portsmouth.
Just before midnight on Friday, December 18, the youth was walking with a group of friends when they were approached by two men.
As the pair came close the group, one reached out and assaulted the youth by cutting him across his face.
A weapon was used in the attack, however it is not known what type of weapon this was.
The youth attended Queen Alexandra hospital for treatment and received 10 stitches to the cut on his face.
The two men are described as:
Man 1:
- Black
- Around 21 years old
- 5ft 6ins tall
- Stocky build
- Short hair
- Wearing a New York Yankees baseball cap, with a grey hooded jumper and Adidas tracksuit bottoms
Man 2:
- White
- 6ft tall
- Average build
- Wearing a black long sleeved hooded jumper and black tracksuit bottoms
Detective Constable Sarah Lortal said, “This was a sudden and unprovoked attack which has caused a significant injury to this young man’s face. We are appealing for anyone who saw what happened, or has any information relating to the offenders, to contact police as soon as possible.”
