Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a road traffic collision at crossroads on the B3401 Sun Hill at Calbourne, Isle of Wight.
A grey Suzuki Swift leaving the junction with Lynch Lane from the direction of Brighstone was involved in a collision with a silver Volkswagen Polo, which was travelling from Newport towards Freshwater along Sun Hill.
As a result of the impact, the silver Volkswagen Polo left the road and collided with a side wall of a pub, the Sun Inn.
The Suzuki driver, a 28-year-old woman from Godshill, Isle of Wight, and the Volkswagen driver, a 31-year-old woman from Ryde, Isle of Wight, received non life-threatening injuries.
Both women were taken to hospital for treatment, and later released.
Part of the B3401 was closed for an hour while police investigated and the vehicles involved were recovered.
Hampshire Constabulary’s Isle of Wight Roads Policing Unit is appealing to further witnesses spotted at the scene of the collision to make contact.
Officers would like to speak in particular to a motorist in another silver car who is believed to have had a clear view of the collision while driving in either Lynch Lane or Elm Lane opposite at the same time.
The collision happened shortly after 1.00pm on Thursday, April 23, 2009.
Anyone with information, or who witnessed the collision, is asked to contact PC Clive Richardson at the Shanklin Roads Policing Unit by phoning 101, or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
