Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after an incident where a man’s jaw was broken in the early hours of Saturday, May 9.
Between 1.30am and 2.30am, a 20-year-old man was with his girlfriend as they left Jongleurs in Gunwharf Quays.
They were walking across the upper balcony, towards the external staircase which leads towards the ground floor.
As the pair approached the top of the staircase they passed a man who became aggressive and began calling the woman names, and threw food at the couple.
The man who was leaving stopped and spoke with the aggressive man, who then punched him in the face.
The offender is described as:
- White
- Aged in his late teens or early 20s
- 5ft 8ins tall
- Dark hair
- Broad shoulders
- Wearing a pink, or similar coloured, shirt and blue jeans
Detective Constable Katie Holland said, “This was an extremely violent and unprovoked attack and we are keen to identify the man responsible as soon as possible. If anyone saw what happened please tell us what you saw.
“In particular we’d like to hear from three young women who were nearby and witnessed the assault take place.”
