Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident where a man was assaulted on Saturday, May 16.
Between 7.30pm and 7.50pm, a 38-year-old man was walking through Seymour Close in Buckland. He was set upon by a group of four or five men. The man was punched and kicked and was knocked to the floor.
The man was taken by ambulance to Queen Alexandra hospital, where he was kept in overnight and received treatment for bruising and cuts to his head and face.
PC Ron Richards said, “This was a nasty and unprovoked attack and I would appeal to anyone who heard or saw what happened to contact police immediately.”
A 27-year-old man from Fratton has been arrested and released on bail in connection with this incident, to return on July 22.
