Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman had her handbag snatched in Portsmouth.
Between 7.45 and 8pm on Saturday January 31, a 52-year-old woman was walking along Turner Road ( by Charles Dickens’ School).
A man, who she had just walked past, grabbed her handbag from behind. The handle of the bag broke and the man made off with it.
He is described as:
• Black
• About 5 ft 10 tall
• Medium build
• Very short, dark, curly hair
• Clean shaven
• Wearing a black leather ‘bomber’ jacket, dark coloured jumper and blue or black jeans
The handbag contained a Siemens mobile phone and personal papers. Acting Detective Sergeant Jon Smithers who is investigating said: “This robbery happened in a busy residential area during the early evening.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who might have information to help us to identify the man repsonsible. Fortunately the woman, although shaken, was not injured.”
