Police in Southampton are appealing for witnesses after a man walked into an off-licence in the city with a knife and demanded cash.
The man went into ‘Cloud Wine’ in Bedford Place at about 1.10pm on Thursday, 13 November . He produced a kitchen style knife from up his sleeve and told the shop assistant to put the cash from the till in a plastic bag. He then made off with the money.
No one was hurt in the incident but the robber managed to get around £90. The robber is described as white, aged around 20 with a white scarf with blue trim around the face.
He wore dark clothing with a hood and white trainers. Police believe the same man had been in the area to check out the shop a short time before as someone of a similar description was seen acting suspiciously.
He is said to look much the same but with a white hood with a blue stripe front to back and a dark cap under his hood. He also had a dark scarf around his face.
Officers are now asking for anyone who saw the man in the area or where he went after the robbery to contact them. They believe he was in the vicinity at least an hour before the robbery took place.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Nicholas Otter at Shirley CID on 0845 045 45 45, or call Crimestoppers, the charity, on 0800 555 111.
