Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a group of men burst into a house in Southampton in the early hours of Friday, June 26, and demanded cash from a woman sleeping inside.

Three men entered the house in Gordon Avenue, Portswood, just before 2.30am, and left with a safe containing several thousand pounds taken from a bedroom.

Once inside the property the offenders went straight to the bedroom of a 50-year-woman and demanded money, before stealing the safe.

They also wrapped the victim in a duvet and hit her on the head. The woman was left extremely shaken and was treated for a gash to her head and taken to Southampton General Hospital.

There were several other people in the house asleep at the time of the incident, including two children in their teens – all were left extremely shocked following the ordeal.

Police believe this robbery was a targeted attack and are asking for information to help catch those responsible.
