Police are appealing for witnesses after a 20-year-old man was attacked and stabbed as he walked across a park in Southampton.
The victim and his 17-year-old friend were walking across Aldermoor Park around 1.30am this morning, Wednesday, May 6 when a group of youths called out to them. Mistakenly thinking they were friends they walked towards them but were then attacked.
The 17-year-old managed to eventually get away and ran to a friends house and alerted them but the 20-year-old was beaten by two of the group and also suffered several minor stab wounds which are thought to have been inflicted by a pen knife or similar object.
The youths eventually ran off and police and ambulance were called to the scene.
The victim was treated in hospital overnight at Southampton General Hospital but luckily hasn’t been badly injured.
The group who carried out the attack are described as a mix of black and white youths. Three of them were aged around 20, all approx 5` 11" tall. Two were of medium build and the other stockier. One of the group was a white male wearing an orange baggy t shirt and had distinctive curly blonde/fair hair. Detectives at Shirley are now appealing for witnesses.
Anyone who saw or heard what happened or knows who may have carried out the attack is asked to contact Shirley CID on 0845 045 45 45 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
