Police are appealing for witnesses after a 21-year-old man was attacked by a man with a knife as he made his way home from a friend’s house.
He was approaching the junction of Studland Road and Cuckmere Lane at around 3.30am on Saturday, July 19 when He realised there was a man in front of him.
Then as he overtook him next to Redbridge Community School the man spoke to him and started punching him before then producing a knife.
It’s believed he then used the knife to cause two small slash marks to the victim’s face which required stitches.
He managed to escape before anything else could happen and ran to his home where the police were later called and he was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.
As well as the knife wounds he received a fractured cheekbone during the attack.
The attacker is described as white with short cropped hair, about 5ft 10ins tall and wearing a striped top.
Officers from Shirley CID are now appealing for any witnesses who may have seen or heard what happened to contact them.
They’d also like to hear from anyone else with information about who may be responsible. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Gareth Jones at Shirley CID on 0845 045 45 45 45 or call Crimestoppers, the charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
