Police are appealing for witnesses after a 19-year-old man was headbutted as he walked with friends through West Quay Retail Park in Southampton late last Thursday night, July 29.

The man was on the path beside Staples when he made a comment to a couple as they passed. The man then came up to him and headbutted him causing him to lose two teeth and leaving him with a cut to his cheek.

The assault is being treated as grievous bodily harm and police are appealing for witnesses to the attack which happened just before midnight.

The attacker is described as white, aged around 20, six foot tall and of large build. He had short cropped scruffy brown hair and a beard. He was with a woman who is described as white and slim with distinctive long dyed red hair.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may recognise who the man is from the description of either him or his girlfriend. Anyone with information is asked to call PC Mike McRoyall at Southampton Central Police Station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
