Police are looking to identify a woman after an incident where a young boy suffered a dislocated elbow on Saturday, February 28.
Between 2.15pm and 2.50pm, a 9-year-old boy was in Alexandra play park, opposite the Mountbatten Centre on Twyford Avenue, playing with his 12-year-old cousin.
The younger boy went to use the zip slide, and as he jumped forward to grab onto the handle of the slide, a woman who had been stood nearby made a comment about the boy hurting himself and pulled the rope away from his reach, causing him to fall onto the ground.
The boy hurt his elbow when he fell and another woman who was in the park helped him and called an ambulance.
The woman who had pulled the rope away from the boy then left the park.
The boy was taken to Queen Alexandra hospital where he was kept in overnight, and had an operation to correct his dislocated elbow, which is now in a cast.
The woman police want to speak to is described as:
- White
- 5ft 6ins tall
- Large build
- Aged in her mid 20s to early 30s
- Wearing a white long sleeved top or jacket
- Pushing a push chair, and with three or four children of toddler age
The woman was also with another woman, who is white and of slim build, with black hair tied in a ponytail and a dark coloured jacket.
PC Allan Cameron said, “It is shocking that a woman who may be a mother herself could cause injury to a young boy who was innocently playing in the park. We need to identify this woman so we can get her account of what happened.”
