Voicebanked - Police grow concerned for missing man in Southampton

Press Releases

Published: 22/01/2009

Voicebanked at 1.15am on Jan 22:

Police are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of a man in Southampton who was reported missing yesterday (Wednesday, January 21).

George Robert White is a 66-year-old man who suffers from Alzheimer’s, a condition which has worsened in recent months, and angina.

He was last seen at 2.30pm yesterday afternoon by his daughter, at their home address in Whistler Road, Southampton.

George had gone out to visit a friend who lived in Woolston.

At 3.45pm George was spoken to by his daughter and said that he was on Portchester Road in Woolston, but could not remember where his friend lived. She advised him to get a bus home, and he has not been seen or heard from since.

George’s mobile is not connecting any calls, but is going straight to the voicemail service.

George can become easily disorientated and upset, and in the bad weather it is feared that he may have become confused and lost. He cannot walk very far due to his medical condition, and he also suffers from stiff and swollen ankles.

George is described as:

  • White
  • 5ft 5ins tall
  • medium build
  • white short hair
  • wearing a dark grey suit with a white shirt and a grey tie, with black shoes
  • has tattoos on both arms

Officers would like to ensure that George is safe and well and return him home as soon as possible.
