Voicebank update - light aircraft crash near Petersfield
Press Releases
Published:
11/04/2009
Efforts are continuing today to clear the area where a light aircraft crashed yesterday in Steep, near Petersfield.
The bodies of a man and woman who were travelling in the plane were removed overnight, and today the plane and surrounding debris is being recovered. Once this is completed the cordon marking the scene around the crash site will be removed.
HM coroner has been notified of the incident, and air accident investigators are supervising activity at the scene. They are continuing their enquiries to try and establish the cause of the crash, while police officers are interviewing witnesses and are also working to recover the aircraft.
The identities of the two deceased people have not yet been confirmed. Post mortem examinations will be taking place tomorrow at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester.
