A clean-up operation will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, September 22 at Daisy Dip in Southampton organised by officers from the Safer Neighbourhoods Team in Portwood, Southampton.
Daisy Dip is a large inner city open space area including a mix of green and woodland in the Flowers Estate in Southampton.
The clean-up includes litter picking, cutting down overgrown hedges, taking rubbish out of the stream and painting the children’s play area.
Taking part will not only be the officers but 15 children from Cantell School and up to 50 youngsters aged 16-18 from The Military Preparation College in Millbrook along with the city council’s Neighbourhood Wardens.
The clean-up will take place between 9am and midday. Southampton’s Mayor, Elizabeth Mizon will also be attendance at the start of the event.
Portswood Safer Neighbourhoods Officer PC Gail Salley who has helped organise the event said: “We’re pleased we’ve been able to arrange this. It’s good to see whole sections of the local community get together to help improve the environment for everyone.
"Daisy Dip is a popular area and this will make it nicer and safer. Hopefully it will also encourage people to keep it that way.”
