Residents invited to Road Safety Awareness Day in Portsmouth
Press Releases
Published:
06/11/2008
Police in Portsmouth have teamed up with Hampshire Fire and Rescue to stage an event dedicated to road safety for communities in Fratton.
Between 9am and 3pm on Saturday, November 8, the Safer Neighbourhoods community bus will be parked alongside a fire engine in St Marys recreational ground, just off St Marys Road.
Residents are invited along to get information on how to stay safe on the roads, and particularly now the evenings are darker and the cold winter weather is drawing in.
People can also bring along their cycles and have them security marked with a tamper proof marking, and register their details so that it can easily be traced if ever lost or stolen.
PCSO Della Godfrey said, “We have organised this event to help get road safety messages out to people of all ages, so that they know the dangers and can stay safe when travelling, be it on foot or by a mode of transport. I would encourage people to come along and have a chat with the police and fire service people that will be on hand to answer any questions.”
