Pupils at Bitterne Park Secondary school in Southampton have produced a number of hard-hitting films for Hampshire Constabulary.

Pupils were given a choice of creating a short film around, anti-social behaviour, knife crime or underage drinking. The winning film produced by Jasmine Fison, Thomas Millard, Natalie Collins and Lewis Whale is now available on the Hampshire Constabulary YouTube page.

The top five films were announced during an assembly at Bitterne Park School on Thursday, July 8, 2010 and Chief Inspector Kelly Whiting who covers the Bitterne area presented certificates to the winning film makers. All 75 pupils enrolled on the BTECH media course took part in the project and all received an award from Hampshire Constabulary.

Chief Inspector Kelly Whiting said: “The videos really show that the pupils have an idea of the dangers around these issues and we are able to use these films as part of a future campaign to educate other secondary school pupils across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.”

Susan Trigger, Head teacher at Bitterne Park School said: “It is really important for us to work with local businesses and services and for the pupils to get a taste of what it is really like to work in a professional role. The quality of the films produced by the pupils are brilliant and it has been a good way to really get the messages across to young people about the consequences of their actions.”
